Abstract

Precision magnetic measurements are required to characterize accelerator magnets for the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U). To improve measurement efficiency, a combined-function magnetic measurement system is developed that couples the functionality of rotating coils with pulsed wire measurements. An automated axis-finding routine based on numerical up-winding is presented, and both numerical and experimental results demonstrate rapid convergence in the presence of measurement noise. With a single stretched wire, both integrated and local field phenomena are resolved for rapid magnet validation.
