Abstract
New laser spectroscopy experiments have been performed on a CaCl molecular beam seeded in helium. In this way the (0,0), (1,1), and (2,2) bands of the B 2Σ +- X 2Σ + system were remeasured at higher accuracy compared to former Doppler-limited investigations. The optical data were combined with very precise microwave data from recent ground state measurements in order to determine improved rotational constants of the X 2Σ + and B 2Σ + states. To provide a consistent parameter set of the ground and first excited states of CaCl, former, less precise optical data from A 2Π- X 2Σ + laser spectroscopy were included in a last step.
