Abstract

In a scenario of increasing xenophobia, racism, discrimination and anti-immigrant and anti-refugee generalizations, questionings have been recurrently raised about how to change this picture and about the role of the Global South. Here we analyze judicialization initiatives against people who incite to hatred and violence; and actions for education, awareness/ humanization, promoted by the Bibli-Aspa, a center for research, education, culture and social actions, which features migrations and refugees among its main focus areas. Among others, there are educational programs for Portuguese language and Brazilian culture, Arabic language and culture, French and African, Arabic or Haitian culture; English and African or Arabic culture; Spanish and South-American culture, Haitian Creole, History, literature, archaeology, cooking and handicraft.
