Abstract
TO THE EDITOR: From their survey of patients with acute lower GI bleeding, Angtuaco et al. (1) concluded that colonoscopy rarely led to successful treatment. Also, they concluded that exclusion of an upper GI source should be given priority over urgent colonoscopy. However, I suspect that their results were distorted, because they did not identify all of the patients who were hospitalized with acute lower GI bleeding.
