Abstract

Using the atom-molecule-exchange optical pumping method the collision induced dissociation of Cs2 in the foreign gas atmospheres He, Ne, Ar, Kr, N2 and CH4 is studied. The rate constant for dissociation is found to have an Arrhenius form and good agreement of the activation energy with the spectroscopically determined bond dissociation energy is obtained.
