Abstract

To progressively conserve historic cities for a sustainable future, recognizing and retaining all of the tangible and intangible social and cultural values is vital. Collective memory is a repository of culture and because of its social nature it can be used as a suitable driver of sustainable conservation in historic cities. This paper seeks to elucidate how collective memory can be developed in line with the notion of sustainability in urban conservation interventions.
