Abstract

The influence of the uniform electric field on the collective mode of the one-dimensional Peierls insulator trans-(CH)x is studied. The field is shown to decrease the activation energy of the 'amplitude phonons'. In the fields E<or approximately= Delta 02/eh(cross) nu F the frequency of small oscillations tends to zero, and a damping decrement proportional to the conductivity appears.
