Abstract

Snakes of the genera Arrhyton, Cubophis, and Chilabothrus were examined at the herpetological collection of the Ecology and Systematics Institute, La Habana, Cuba. Several mistakes in the numbers of labels and cards were found that were repaired. Starting from the reparation we prepared 123 new cards and 61 new labels; 65 specimens were catalogued and 110 were included in an Excel sheet for the first time. Digital text catalogue were prepared. Six of the eight species of the genus Arrhyton were detected, with 74 specimens obtained in 12 of the 15 provinces and the Isla de la Juventud. Provinces with more specimens are La Habana and Artemisa. The four Cuban subspecies of the genus Cubophis are in the collection, with 227 specimens captured in the 15 provinces and the Isla de la Juventud. La Habana province has more specimens and Las Tunas and Granma have only one specimen each other. There are 38 specimens of Chilabothrus angulifer from nine of the 15 provinces and the Isla de La Juventud. Pinar del Río, Santiago de Cuba and Ciego de Ávila are the provinces with more specimens whereas Artemisa, Cienfuegos and Granma have one specimen in each of them. Collectors who have contributed to capture more specimens are Luis V. Moreno (88), Orlando H. Garrido (39), Julio Novo (35) and Miguel L. Jaume (18). The period of more specimens collected was from 1960 to 1989 (163) and the lesser captures were from 2000 to present (19).
