Abstract
Abstract A method for the determination of propylene glycol in cosmetics by GLC, using Chromosorb 101 as a column packing, was submitted to collaborative study. Four samples were analyzed at two levels of concentration. Results for the six collaborators show recoveries of 95-108% for samples containing from 20.0 to 40.0 mg propylene glycol. The standard deviation varied from 0.54 to 1.67 and the coefficient of variance from 2.8 to 4.7%. It is recommended that the method be adopted as official first action.
