• Cognitive training is effective in improving young drivers’ speed management. • The effectiveness of these methods depends on the type of training provided. • Feedback is the most effective intervention across all tested conditions. • Self-explanation is effective over six months period, but in low-speed zones only. • Reflection is effective only one week post-training in low-speed zones.
