Abstract
AbstractData mining is a subset of Data Science. The future is bright for data science as the amount of data only increases. Educational data mining (EDM) involves mining similar valuable information from data sets that stores academic work information. It focuses on using data mining techniques to discover valuable knowledge from the educational datasets. EDM predicts the various performance metrics of students is one of the most important activities. In this paper, we present a cognitive study of data mining techniques in educational data mining for data analytics. Also, we illustrate how data mining is used to acquire useful vital information through the educational datasets in the higher educational institutions. We have tried to explore the field of education data mining for further research in higher educational institutions.
