Abstract

In an effort to innovate teaching and learning methods to prepare a new generation for the demands of a new era, many educators have discovered the value of metacognition. In this paper, the author presents these main issues: (i) cognitive activities and metacognitive activities; (ii) manifestations of cognition and metacognition in the 5 core components of mathematical competence for secondary school students; (iii) the influence and role of metacognition in learning Mathematics and developing mathematical competence for students.
