Abstract

AbstractThe analysis of the current state of technogenic disturbed lands, formed as a result of coal mining. Environmental, social and economic problems on the territory of one of the world’s oldest coal deposits under development - the Russian part of the Donetsk coal basin (Eastern Donbass) were studied. The world tendencies of transition to the new energy system, transition to low-carbon development strategies, refusal of coal use on ecological and climatic grounds were studied. Dynamics of development of the coal industry in the Russian Federation which is characterized both by growth of coal mining, and growth of coal enrichment is studied. In the area of Eastern Donbass, the high development of the territory for the coal industry has led to serious environmental problems. Currently, the studied area is characterized by negative processes of land degradation, which require a comprehensive program of reclamation. At the same time Rostov region has a developed agro-industrial complex and the most valuable agricultural land.
