Abstract

High-efficiency bifunctional catalysts will improve the sluggish kinetics on the oxygen electrode for rechargeable Zn-air batteries (ZABs). This study designed hierarchical porous carbon to load Co single atoms (SAs) and highly graphitized carbon nanotubes to stabilize carbon substrate for enhancing the activity and stability of oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution. As-prepared bifunctinal catalyst endowed with a smaller overall overpotential delivers superior efficiency in ZABs, outperforming the commercial Pt/C + RuO2, with a cycle life over 200 h. This work provides an efficient way to construct Co SAs bifunctional catalysts by introducing multi-dimensional carbon substrate.
