Abstract

The CoCr binary system was experimentally re-investigated by differential thermal analysis, isothermal annealing and high temperature X-ray diffraction. In the Cr-rich region, the transformation of the a phase into the b.c.c. α phase occurred at about 1280 °C, but no δ phase was found to exist at high temperature. The other parts of the diagram agree with the data selected by Hansen. The thermodynamic values were described by a polynomial representation which took into account all the published experimental thermodynamic data; the phase equilibrium was then calculated and compared with the experimental results.
