Abstract

A CNG ceramics engine is developed for series-type hybrid light duty trucks. In this engine,by placing a throat valve at a throat of pre-chamber, compression-ignition was made possible without ignitions devices. This new combustion system that realizes both high thermal efficiency and low NOx emissions simultaneously was established. The fuel economy was improved up to 200% compared with the conventional diesel truck for M15 mode. Also,the D13 mode NOx exhausts emission was satisfied the ULEV of new shot-term regulation in Japan. This paper describes the performance of CNG ceramics engine.
