Abstract

The morphology of clusters and thin films of Pt, Pd, Au and Ni deposited onmodel substrates (Si, pyrolytic graphite, glass…) by direct-current sputtering (DCS) was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy and X-ray reflectometry. Noble metals were also deposited by DCS on conventional supports (SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, CeO2) and their properties in various catalytic reactions (benzene hydrogenation, cyclopentane hydrogenolysis, transient CO oxidation, photooxidation of alcohols) were investigated.
