Abstract

The ground-state phase diagram of the J 1 - J 2 model is investigated on the basis of cluster-effective-field approximations. Following our previous studies on the S =1/2 frustrated XXZ chain, classical magnetic order parameters such as the Neel and collinear ones, and the columnar dimer order parameter are analyzed using periodic-boundary clusters. Within these approximations, classical magnetic order is stable in the whole parameter region.
