Abstract

Cloze procedure is a technique developed for use with textual material. In particular, it is employed in the testing of readability and comprehension. Recent work suggests that graphic adaptations of cloze procedure may be useful in the investigation of some limited aspects of cognitive mapping skills. This paper examines some of the technical problems associated with the design of cloze tests and reports the results of some empirical tests.
