Abstract
Background and aim: Epidemiology of liver cirrhosis suggests that although Hepatitis B and C are still common in developing countries, alcohol related cirrhosis is increasing in countries like India. Rising trends in alcohol consumption in North India, makes it essential to analyse the influence of these changes on the clinical profile of liver cirrhosis. Therefore, we aimed to study 50 patients of cirrhosis of liver in Dhauladhar region. Methods: In this descriptive hospital-based study, 50 patients with evidence of liver cirrhosis diagnosed on history, imaging and investigations were included for a period of 12 months. Results: In our study, 72% patients aged between 40-60 years with a mean age was 50.4±10.1 years. Around 58% patients had CTP Class C disease suggesting advanced disease in our study. In our study, 88% patients were anemic. 74% had thrombocytopenia. 40% patients also had kidney dysfunction. Conclusion: Cirrhosis is common in the most productive age and they also have co-morbidities like anemia, thrombocytopenia, and renal dysfunction.
