Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of dacryocyst irrigation combined with lacrimal duct intubation for the treatment of acute dacryocystitis. Methods The data of 30 cases of acute dacryocystitis from Jan. 2016 to Mar. 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. All cases received nasolacrimal duct probing and lacrimal duct intubation after the infection was controlled by dacryocyst irrigation and systemic antibiotics. The irrigation was performed after treament regularly. The silicone stents were removed after 3- 6 months, and then followed up for at least 6 months. The efficacy was observed. Results There were 26 cases (86.67%) with a successful cure. Three cases (10.00%) improved. And 1 case (3.33%) remaind ineffective. The rate of recurrence was 6.67% during the follow-up period. No case of orbital cellulitis or acute recurrence was found during the period. Conclusion Dacryocyst irrigation combined with lacrimal duct intubation is an effective treatment for acute dacryocystitis.
