Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of the vitreoretinal surgery on the treatment of children serious ocular trauma. Methods Thirty-eight cases(38 eyes) of serious ocular trauma in children collected from Jan. 2008 to Nov. 2010 were analysed retrospectively, which were underwent vitreoretiual surgery in our hospital given by the same doctor. Results In the 38 cases,the children cooperated with visual acuity examination in 30 cases. The vision of 17 eyes improved ( 56.67% ), 11 eyes remained unchanged (36.67%) ,and 2 eyes worsen (6.66%) ,and 8 children could not cooperate. 14 cases had undergone silicone oil extraction. The vision improved in 10 cases(71.43% ) after silicone oil extraction,it was unchanged in 4 cases(28.57% ). Conclusion Vitreoretinal surgery is an important method for children ocular trauma, which could remedy vision, and improve prognosis.
