Abstract

Objective To observe the lacrimal intubation with mitomycin and TobraDex Ophthalmic ointment (TDO) in the treatment of lacrimal passage obstruction. Methods Senventy-eight eyes with obstruction of lacrimal passage were randomly divided into group A (40 eyes,MMC+TDO)and group B (38 eyes, control group). In group A,40 eyes firstly applied 0.2mg/ml MMC,washed thoroughly after 5 minutes, then filled up TobraDex Ophthalmic ointment. In group B,38 eyes only conducted Lacrimal duct intubation. Results All patients were followed up for 6-9 months. After 1 month and 3 months treatment, the healing rates of group A were 100%,group B 89.5%,81.5%respectively; after 3 and 9 months, the healing rates of group A were 95%,group B was 73.7%,71.1% respectively, there was a great significantly difference between the two groups (P <0.05),group A was significantly higher than that of B group. Conclusions Mitomycin C combined with TobraDex Ophthalmic ointment can significantly improve the healing rate on patients of LDCL in long term.
