Abstract

Objective To study how to reduce the head and neck skin breakage and skin irritation symptoms of the patients after laryngectomy.Methods Totals of 92 patients after laryngectomy were selected as control group between January and December in 2009,and others 195 patients between January 2010 and October 2011 as observation group.During the operation,traditional care was applied in control group and the head and neck skin management on the basis of traditional care was applied in observation group.To observe the incidence rate of skin breakage,skin irritation symptoms,and satisfaction.Results The incidence rate of skin breakage (10.26% vs 25.00%)and skin irritation symptoms(2.05% vs 10.87%)in the observation group was significantly lower than that of control group (x2 = 10.667,10.476,respectively; P < 0.01).Satisfaction of patients in observation group was significantly improved than that of control group (99.46% vs 95.65%) (x2 =64.290,P <0.01).Conclusions Following the head and neck skin management can effectively reduce the patients' head and neck skin breakage and skin irritation symptoms,improve nursing quality and satisfaction of patients.
