Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of cytokine induced killer cell(CIK) combined with capecitabine on maintenance treatment of elderly advanced gastric cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis was made from January 2010 to January 2013, including 47 elderly patients with advanced gastric cancer, aged 75 to 85 years old. The test group(21 cases)was treated with CIK combined with capecitabine maintenance, the control group(26 cases)was treated with capecitabine maintenance chemotherapy. The short-term effect, quality of life, adverse reactions and survival rate were observed in both groups follow-up of 24 months. The primary endpoint was disease progression(PFS), secondary endpoint was overall survival(OS). Results The short-term effect was significanty different between the two groups (P>0.05). The quality of life, PFS and OS were significantly different between the two groups(P<0.05). Conclusions CIK combined with capecitabine maintenance therapy can play a synergistic effect, to extend elderly patients with advanced gastric cancer PFS and OS. Key words: Cytokine induced killer cell; Capecitabine; Gastric cancer
