Abstract

Objective To summarize the causes of contraceptive failure in patients with accidental pregnancy within one year after delivery, the re-abortion outcomes, and the implementation of postoperative contraception. Methods Retrospective investigation method was adopted to analyze the clinical data 254 abortion patients with accidental pregnancy within one year after delivery treated at our hospital in recent 1 year. The clinical data 254 abortion patients without accidental pregnancy within one year after delivery treated in the same period were set as a control group. Results There was no statistical difference successful operation rate between these two groups (P>0.05) . The intra-operative bleeding volume was higher in the observation group than in the control group (P 0.05). The preoperative uncontraceptive rate was higher in the observation group than in the control group (P< 0.05). After postoperative 12 months follow-up, the effective contraceptive rate was higher in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusions Women within 1 year after delivery have low contraception awareness, and easily have accidental pregnancy; and these women has high risk in abortion and high intra-operative bleeding volume. Post-abortion care is effective for these women and can increase effective contraception rate and decrease accidental pregnancy rate.
