Abstract

Helicobacter pylori infection is highly associated with a wide range of upper gastrointestinal diseases, including gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid lymphoid-tissue. Some studies have showeded that Helicobacter pylori related to other non digestive diseases, including unknown causes of iron deficiency anemia, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, coronary heart disease and urticaria in recent years, which has been classified as I type carcinogenic by World Health Organization. Recently, scholars of various countries have recognized urea breath test as a gold standard for detection of Helicobacter pylori infection and as an observation of curative effect of eradication of helicobacter pylori. There is no relevant article to explain the value of breath test for gastric disease. In this paper, the role of urea breath test in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric associated diseases is reviewed, which aims to deepen the understanding of the value of delta over baseline and to guide clinical treatment.
