Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of 13C - urea breath test (13C - UBT) in the efficacy evaluation of the eradication of Helicobacter pylori and its clinical nursing methods. Methods From March 2015 to March 2016, 50 cases of patients with Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection from digestive department of our hospital were collected as the research object. All patients were treated with anti HP triple therapy, and the clinical symptoms disappeared after the treatment completed. Serum HP antibody, gastroscopy histopathology, and13C-UBT were detected at four weeks after drug withdrawal, and corresponding nursing measures were taken. Results After anti HP triple therapy, 50 patients with HP infection were confirmed to be positive in 4 cases and negative in 46 cases by gastroscopy histopathological examination; the result of13C-UBT showed that 5 cases were positive, among whom 3 cases were true positive, 2 cases were false positive, and 45 cases were negative, among whom 44 cases were true negative, 1 case was false negative; the serum HP antibody test showed 43 cases were positive, among whom 3 cases were true positive, 40 cases were false positive, and 7 cases were negative, 5 cases of whom were true negative, and 2 cases were false negative. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and accuracy of13C-UBT detection were significantly higher than those of serum HP antibody detection, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusions The detection method of13C-UBT is simple, rapid, noninvasive, and non-radioactive, which can accurately reflect the change of HP infection patients' condition, can be used as the first choice to evaluate the effect of HP eradication treatment. But in the process of application, we should pay attention to the corresponding nursing measures to ensure the accuracy of the test results. Key words: 13C-urea breath test; Helicobacter pylori; Detection effect
