Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of folded artificial lens BigBag with three haptics in refractive lens exchange operation for highmyopia patients. Methods Eighty eyes of 53patients with opaque lens or not were received the refractive lens exchange operation,19 monocular high myopia patients,27 binocular and 7 binocular who chose the eye with better near visual acuity or corrected visual acuity, accepted the phacoemolsification combined with hydrophilic folded acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) BigBag.Observed intra-operative and post operative complications, preoperative and post operative best visual acuity (VA),best corrected visual acuity (BCVA),eye axial length, and refraction and so on.All patients were followed up for 6 months to 1 year. Results Except one IOL was deviation because the posterior capsular was broken when implanting IOL resulted from too small incision, the others were in the right position and sticked to the posterior capsular membrane where no folds were found. The postoperative unaided visual acuity were ≥0.3 in 56eyes,≥0.5 in 46 eyes,≥0.8 in 6 eye and ≤0.3 in 24 eyes.Except 2 patients, post operative vision were not improved, whose preoperative near visual acuity were ≤0.1,the others were better than their best preoperative visual acuity. Conclusion Careful preoperative examination and phacoemulsifcation combined with low or negative dipoter IOL BigBag can not only steady posterior capsular bag but also reduce the occurrence of posterior capsular membrane folds, posterior capsular cataracts and retinal detachment. Key words: Phacoemulsifcation; High myopia; IO; Acrylic
