CLINICAL AND MEDICO-SOCIAL ASPECTS OF PREGNANCY, CHILDBIRTH AND THE CONDITION OF THE NEWBORN IN SINGLE WOMEN

Abstract

One of the main features of the demographic situation is the increase in the number of single women deliveries. Their frequency ranges from 6 to 22 %.The aim of research was to assess the impact of clinical, psychological and social factors on the course of pregnancy and childbirth in single women.Materials and methods of research. The main group consisted of 110 single pregnant women, the control one - 110 married women and their newborns.Results of Research. According to the results of clinical, psychological and social characteristics in single women pregnancy coursed in unfavorable moral and psychological conditions. In 21,8% cases it was the refuse of the father and in 48% had an extramarital pregnancy. The threatening spontaneous abortions and premature deliveries in the main group was observed in 47,2% of cases, which is 2 times higher than in the control group. The course of pregnancy was complicated by gestosis in 26,3% of the main group women and in 19% of the control group. Anemia was observed in 50,9% and in 32,7% as well as placental dysfunction, which complicated the course of pregnancy in 60% and 20,7% respectively. The preterm birth frequency in the main group was 7,2% and 1,8% in the control group. Deliveries occurred in 41-42 weeks in 21% and in 10,9% respectively. In 18,7% of the puerperas of the main group were observed complications of the postpartum period, 9,8% were of infectious-inflammatory course.Conclusion. Single women form the high risk group for obstetric and perinatal complications due to a number of medical and social reasons.
