Abstract

Background and objectives: Diagnosis of autoimmune disease of liver has remained a challenge. Combination of clinical, laboratory, and pathologic criteria play a pivotal role. There is histopathologic overlap among the different autoimmune liver diseases making diagnosis a challenge based on morphologic features alone seen on routine stains. Limited data exists on the immunophenotype of plasma cells in autoimmune liver diseases in relation to clinical phenotype. This prospective and retrospective study was planned to study role of IHC in diagnosing autoimmune liver disease and their clinical correlation.
