Abstract

Objective To analyze the characteristics of open ocular trauma in Xinjiang Region. Methods The data of 239 eyes of 238 cases with open ocular trauma from Jan.2012 to Dec.2016 were analyzed retrospectively. The etiological factors, clinical features and visual acuity after treatment were analyzed. Results Males to females ratio was 4.17∶1.The age ranged 5 months-82 years, average(28.10±4.45)years.Penetrating injury was the most common cause of open ocular trauma, followed by eyeball rupture and intraocular foreign body.The common complications of open ocular trauma were traumatic cataract, hyphema and vitreous hemorrhage.The enucleations of eyeball were performed in 5 eyes (3.41%). Conclusion Sharp instrument injury is the main cause of open ocular trauma. The home and country estates are the main sites of open ocular trauma in Xinjiang Region(42.40%), open ocular trauma should be prevent-ed in these areas.
