Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognosis factors of adults with ocular trauma in Xinjiang Shihezi Area. Methods The data of 1 607 eyes of 1 532 adults with ocular trauma from Jan.2007 to Dec.2017 were analyed retrospectively. Results The ocular trauma patients were mainly young maled of Han nationality.The ocular trauma occurred most often outdoor in summer.The most common causes was blunt instruments, especially contusion and perforation.The main complication was traumatic hyphema. The factors correlate with bad vision prognosis of ocular trauma were: age from 38 to 47 years in 564 cases(36.8%); open globe injury in 546 cases (35.6%); traumatic cataract in 190 cases (12.4%); lens dislocation in 48 cases (3.1%); vitreous hemorrhage in 101 cases (6.6%); retinal detachment in 35 cases (2.3%)and enucleation of eyeball in 22 cases (1.4%). Conclusion The clinical characteristics of adults with ocular trauma in Xinjiang Shihezi Area include mainly Han males, mostly caused by blunt instruments outdoors. There are mainly two types of contusion and perforation. The blindness rate of ocular trauma is high, so it is indispensable to take many measures to avoid ocular trauma as much as possible.
