Abstract
A class topper optimization (CTO) algorithm is used to design a load frequency control (LFC) for a non-linear three-area thermal power system. In each of the area, thermal generating unit are having reheat turbine and generation rate constant (GRC). Class Topper Optimization-based PID controller is offered in this paper for load frequency control of power systems in the presence of nonlinearities. The performance of the CTO based PID is compared to CTO based PI, ID and particle swarm optimization based PID controllers. The effectiveness of the proposed CTO is also validated with Random Load Perturbation.
