Abstract

Scope of application of the special protective rules for consumer contracts in the Brussels I Regulation (on jurisdiction in civil and commercial matters). Link with the comparable provision of the Rome I Regulation (on the law applicable to contractual obligations). Trader ‘directing’ his activities to the Member State of domicile of the consumer: Criteria to be used in case of distance booking facilitated by a website. The exception for contracts of transport: Relevance of the concept of ‘package travel’ used in Directive 90/314.
