Abstract

This article presents a feed speed optimization method for the circular saw lateral stability in wood cutting. The saw blade lateral deflection was monitored and the workpiece feed speed controled. An eddy current sensor was used to measure the saw deflection. Results showed that it was possible to keep the saw blade lateral deflection within a desired limit. This method may represent a promising technique in high speed cutting during the optimization process.
