Abstract

AbstractThis article presents a new method of SPICE‐compatible circuit modeling for small ultra‐wideband antennas. It can be derived from the input impedance or admittance of the antenna with the vector fitting method. The antenna input impedance or admittance can be easily simulated by an electro magnetic (EM) simulator or measured using a vector network analyzer. And the vector fitting technique is employed to convert input impedance or admittance to a SPICE equivalent circuit. The most important contribution of this study is to show that radio frequency components such as small ultra‐wideband antennas can be integrated into the simulation of communication systems and helps system designers to predict and consider the effect of the radio frequency components in the design process. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
