Abstract

The preparation of selective surfaces on steel and copper substrates by black chrome electroplating is described. The structural characterization of these black chrome surfaces by X-ray diffraction and photoelectron spectrometry is reported. Thermal and chemical stability tests have also been carried out on the surfaces. Finally the conversion efficiencies of black solar collectors which use black chrome and black paint absorbers are compared.
