Abstract

1. A Chromatographie method was proposed for isolating 1-N-(α-benzyl-N'-carbobenzoxy-β-L-as-partyl-2-acetamido-4,6-O-benzylidene-1,2-didesoxy-β-D-glucosamine (IV) from the reaction mixture in the pure state. 2. The complete removal of dicyclohexylurea from product (IV) is achieved by adsorption chroma-tography on silica gel in chloroform. 3. Together with the main reaction product, theα-benzyl ester of N-carbobenzoxyasparagine (VI) is also formed as a by-product. 4. A method was found for separating the main and side reaction products by chromatographing on Sephadex LH-20.
