Abstract

Historical accounts of Jesus by Christian theologians should normally be written from a Christian standpoint. When apologists adopt a non-believing standpoint a liberal protestant Christology is implied. The traditional Christian belief in the crucified and risen Jesus as the decisive revelation of God can be maintained either by setting historical descriptions of Jesus in the context of New Testament theologies, or by including in the picture, and explaining, his impact on his initial and subsequent followers.
