Abstract
The absorption spectra of chlorophyll a and b monolayers, under known thermodynamic conditions, at water/air and water/oil interfaces, have been compared with absorption spectra of these pigments in several organic solvents. The results strenthen the hypothesis that in living chloroplasts chlorophyll is in a monolayer state.
