Abstract

A prominent feature of many traditional dances of Korea is the manipulation of hand-held objects. These objects range from such things as fans and scarves to drum sticks and swords or knives. The purpose of this paper is to describe one sword dance performed today. I will briefly discuss its historical background, give a summary description of the dance, and then shift attention to the use of the implement.
