Abstract
The present study is a critical discourse analysis of Chinese-English translation of hard news, intending to disclose the relationship between ideology and hard news translation. Fairclough's three-dimensional model is employed to analyze five hard news reports published on Xinhuanet. Through the comparison of the source texts and their translations, the study finds that the impact of ideology can be observed in various stages of Chinese-English hard news translation, including text, discursive practice and social practice.
