China's national-security overhaul

Abstract

In establishing a new National Security Commission, President Xi Jinping has created a single forum for the consideration of all of China's security concerns, both external and internal. Though still a work in progress, it will assess China's national-security concerns comprehensively, including the full spectrum of security threats, and institutionalise Chinese strategic thinking for the first time.
