Abstract

The ILO (International labor standard) was enacted in order to improve the economic conditions of the labor class in various countries. The organization mainly covers four areas namely, child labor, right to the collective bargaining, forced labor and equality of opportunity. The author has confined her research by focusing only on one of the important aspects i.e. child labor. A child being the future of our country apposite care and concern is necessary towards them. The author has made an attempt to cover the causes, various international and Indian conventions primed to curb the social evil act of child labor. In order to cover the legal stand on the same, a brief idea has been given about the Articles of the Indian Constitution dealing with child labor followed by few landmark judgments and guidelines rendered by the Supreme Court of India. The article is concluded by the personal take of the author on the legislation and its enactments regarding child labor and with a few suggestions to improve the conditions of children in our country.
