Abstract

ABSTRACT Imported Indonesian coal samples collected from thermal power plants were analyzed using Synchrotron Radiation X-ray Fluorescence (SRXRF). Sixteen inorganic elements As, Ca, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, K, Mn, Ni, Pb, Rb, Se, Sr, Ti, V, and Zn were quantified. To ascertain the abundance in the analyzed samples compared to Clarke values for world coals, the enrichment factor for each element was measured. The analytical results were interpreted using chemometric techniques, namely Pearson’s correlation analysis, hierarchical cluster analysis, and principal component analysis. This study revealed three principal components contributing to 87.99% of the total variance in the data.
