AbstractDirect reaction of the zinc bromide complex of β‐enamino esters (Blaise reaction intermediate) with benzoquinones affords title aminomethylenebenzofuranones, e.g. (IV), (VI), (VIII) or (X), instead of the expected indoles (Nenitzescu products).
