AbstractThe hexapeptide (III), spanning region 213‐219 of E. coli K88 ab protein fimbriae, was synthesized starting from the units (I) and (II) in a conventional stepwise fashion [using DCC and hydroxybenzotriazol (for preactivation in all condensation reactions), tert. butyloxy‐ and benzyloxycarbonyl groups (for side chain protection), and a mixture of TFA, phenol and p‐cresol (for repetitive depro‐ 150 tection)].
