AbstractWhile the tricyclic chelate (I) or its iodo‐Fe(III) derivative add bases such as MeOH, pyridine, or imidazole to form octahedral low‐spin complexes, the adducts of the bases to the macrocyclic coordinated chelate (IIa) are mainly pentacoordinated intermediate‐spin or octahedral low‐spin complexes.
