Abstract Iodobenzene, 2-halopyridines (Cl, Br), 2-chloroquinoline and 1-halonaphthalenes (Cl, Br) react with acetophenone enolate ion in DMSO by the S RN 1 mechanism catalyzed by SmI 2 .
